Pig eye dissection

Oink, Oink

Today I saw Darryn dissect a pigs eyeball. We had to name all the parts of the eye ball if we wanted our sheet signed off. He showed us all the parts of an eyeball. The parts of an eyeball are the lens, blind spot, cornea, pupil, iris, retina, tapetum, optic nerve, sclera, vitreus humour and aqueous humour.

Every time Darryn cut the eyeball we got to hold it. The eyeball was very tough to cut. even with a razor blade it was still very tough.

Typing test

Today at Enrich after lunch we all did a typing test. A typing test is when you put your hands on A, S, D and F. You put your left pinky on  A and you put your left ring finger on S and you put your index finger on D. Last of all you put your pointy finger on F.

It will look a little bit like this.  Below is one of the typing exercises I had to do - it was easy!!

Making quick sand

Today at Enrich for passion time Sarah, Jemma and I made Quick Sand.

You need:

One cup of maize cornflour

Half a cup of water and some yellow food colouring.

Once you have done that you stir it.It might not look like sand but it is.You can tell when its ready because if you mix it slow it will fell watery and when you mix it fast it will be hard to mix.

AIM:(What you are wanting to find out)

We wanted to find out if it actually makes sand.

HYPOTHESIS: (What you think will happen)I think the quick sand will turn into sand once we have finished making the quick sand. 

METHOD: (the steps you take to do the experiment - Instructions)

Put one cup of maize corn flour in a bowl and then you put half a cup of water in and then some yellow food colouring. Mix all the ingredients together and then when you mix it slowly it should feel watery. 

RESULTS: (what happened)

When we mixed it slowly it did feel watery and when we mixed it fast it felt tough. 

CONCLUSION:(why you think this happened the reason for the outcome)

The cornflour was at the bottom so when we mixed it fast it got a little bit of cornflour and it was tough to mix. 

Technology Challenge

Kia Ora everyone!

Today at Enrich we all did a technology challenge. It was really fun. We had to use some newspaper, paperclips, sellotape and string to make a contraption to get a hammer and a cold chisel. We were in groups of three. I was in a group  with Tara and Emily. The challenge was based on Maguyver. One person had to be Maguyver  and their feet couldn't move no matter what. All of the groups failed. I think Luke's group was the closest.

Holidays here I come!

The morning of my day at Enrich.

Today at Enrich we started with a game of chess. I played Claire first and I won. Then I played Anna and then I just moved down when I moved up! Next we continued with our environment projects. In my project I was writing an article about the how Enrich is helping out at Seaward Bush, so I finished that then time was over.So it was morning tea time. After morning tea it was time for the class to watch an air pollution video and when we were finished watching it we got to get our workbooks and a pen and write down two facts about the video and a wondering.

Then we got into groups of three and did the same thing.I am wondering why people are polluting so much and how they get away with it??
